| Built in 1889, the Fort Payne Opera House was erected during the major industrial boom in the post civil war era. The Opera House, located in Fort Payne, Alabama, has been filled with audiences for over a century and still continues to pack it's seats with spectators. Shows ranging from musicals, concerts and plays have been the Opera House's expertise from the moment the doors opened up until present day. The Fort Payne Opera House was the first theatre built and is the only theatre still in use in the state of Alabama. The Fort Payne High School Senior Play is annually held here every spring.
