August 29 Jazz On The Hill

September 5 Broadway Under The Stars

September 7 Ider Mule Days
 This annual event showcases Sand Mountain’s rich agricultural heritage. Enjoy a parade of mules, horses, carriages, antique tractors and more. A horse pull, mule pull, antique tractors and cars, arts and crafts, food, children’s games, and so much more make this day one you won’t want to miss. September 17 3nd Annual Mayor's Cup Golf Tournament
 The Fort Payne Chamber of Commerce and the City of Fort Payne will host this Boom Days Event. It will be a 4 man scramble held at Terrapin Hills Golf and Country Club with a 9:00 a.m. shot gun start. Over $1500 in cash prizes to be given away.  All proceeds will go to the Fort Payne Chamber of Commerce.  For more information or if you are interested in participating in the tournament, call 256-844-6571


September 19 9th Annual John Benge Commemorative Motorcycle Ride

  We welcome you to join us as we ride in commemoration of DeKalb County's Cherokee Indian Heritage and all Indian Nations who were forced to walk on the Infamous Trail of Tears.  The DeKalb County Tourist Association in Fort Payne, will serve as the congregating location for bikers in their preparation to depart on the 7th Annual John Benge Commemorative Ride Saturday at 7 a.m. The ride is strictly voluntary and you Ride at Your Own Risk. The John Benge Ride is in remembrance of those who walked this trail and brings awareness to this tragedy.

September 12 - 19 Boom Days Heritage Celebration
 This annual art and musical event displays citizens of Fort Payne taking a second look at their past and the heritage passed down to them through the arts and crafts of our area.  The Boom Days Heritage Celebration will feature many of these facets in the presentation of musical performances as well as art displays in Fort Payne City Park.

 Stroll through the beautiful historic Victorian homes of downtown Collinsville and view some of the most wonderfully handcrafted quilts you have ever seen. Hours are Friday Noon to 5 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. 256-524-3296


September 28-October 3  54th Annual DeKalb County VFW Agricultural Fair

Rides on the midway, great food, live entertainment, livestock exhibits, agricultural displays, awards, and so much more make attending this event a must for the whole family. Held at the VFW Fairgrounds in Fort Payne. Gates open at 5 p.m. each evening.

October 16 – 18 The 26th Annual Mentone Colorfest
 This event kicks off with its traditional bonfire and storytelling in the heart of downtown Mentone. Arts, crafts, great food, live entertainment and much more fills Mentone Brow Park Saturday and Sunday with fun and excitement. 256-634-9031


October 26 Fall Open Studio Orbix Hot Glass

 
Holiday is in the air at Orbix Hot Glass where the designer and glass artist makes unique hand-blown glassware and sculptures. November 14 Collinsville Historic Turkey Trot
 Join us for food, fun and games. An antique car and tractor show, turkey shoot, cake walk, and historic “turkey toss” from the roof of a building make this an event fun for all ages. Sponsored in part by the Collinsville Historic Association. 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Get your holiday shopping done early while experiencing where art is created and enjoying a FREE self-guided driving tour.  Mentone Area Arts Council sponsors this wonderful event for you to better acquaint yourself with where the magic happens on Lookout Mountain and surrounding areas.  Get a group together and have fun meeting the artists that contribute to the culture of Lookout Mountain.  9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

November & December Christmas at Eddies
 This 23rd annual decorating of Eddie’s Garden Center in Henagar is a fun tradition. With over 75 Christmas trees, each with individual themes, it’s impossible to see everything in just one trip. Stroll through the Christmas Wonderland and see how each room has been tastefully decorated for the holidays. Ornaments ranging from western to whimsical, cartoons to retro, Victorian to collegiate – there’s truly something for everyone. An open house takes place during the first weekend in November. Open regular store hours and special holiday hours during Thanksgiving and on Sundays. Eddie’s is located in Henagar on Sand Mountain at 9112 AL Highway 40. 256-657-3841

 This annual event takes place inside the beautiful Sequoyah Caverns. The Live Nativity includes a choir, live animals and the depiction of the birth of a savior. 800-843-5098
